Behind the records
A rating and an inspection tell different stories.
County rating
Excellent, Good, Okay, and Needs To Improve are published by King County. The county’s rating system considers inspection history; a rating is different from the result of a single visit. Unrated entries keep the county’s original label.
Inspection results & points
Results are shown as reported, including Satisfactory, Unsatisfactory, and Complete. Points reflect violations recorded at that visit; fewer points mean fewer penalty points. An educational or unscored visit can be marked Complete. A negative source score is shown as unavailable, with the original value in the history.
A record of a particular day
A closure flag describes what happened on that inspection date. It does not confirm whether the business is closed today. This dataset includes historical establishments and may lag current conditions.
